Christchurch Business Forum

The Christchurch Business Forum formed a group for Christians involved in Business in Christchurch to gather together over breakfast several times a year and listen to interesting and challenging  leaders reflect on their journeys.  The goal is not only to learn from the speakers but also engage with and challenge each other to become better leaders.

About our events

Often speakers will share how their Christian faith has influenced their business journey.  While speakers share about their spiritual journey this is not organised by any Church denomination and all are welcome.  These sessions are organised by business leaders for other business leaders.  We want to not only learn from the speakers but also engage with and challenge each other to become better leaders.

How the forum came about...

Since the origins of the idea at the end of 2016 and starting with a first event in late 2017 the forum has held many breakfast events often with 60 to 80 attending.  With a pause on events in 2020 thanks to Covid the forum will be holding two events in 2021, one on 6 August and another later in the year.

Sponsors are welcome to contribute to the cost of the venue hire so that those attending just pay for their breakfasts.  Drop us a line if you can help out.

Business Leaders Breakfast

Social Currency. Putting Purpose Back into Business… With Lisa Mead

After a hiatus post Covid lockdown, we are excited to present the 9th Christchurch Business Forum networking breakfast which will be held on Friday 6th of August.
The purpose underlying these events is to (i) present challenging content and in particular how faith affects our businesses (ii) encourage each other, and (iii) make new connections over great food.
We are excited to welcome Lisa Mead. Lisa runs a social impact business called Social Currency, which is a purpose-driven accounting firm committed to giving 10% of sales to supporting at-risk kiwi kids through mentoring programs and charity partnerships.
Social Currency is an accounting, tax and business advisory firm like any other, but also supports social enterprises and creates social impact reports for purpose-driven businesses making an impact and wanting to share their story.
Lisa has been working as an accountant since 2008 and is a Chartered Accountant working with a variety of businesses and people all over New Zealand, and globally. With a passion for what she does and the Charities she supports coming from a personal struggle against the odds, Lisa’s son is very much the driving force behind her determination.
The purpose of Social Currency is to be a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable young people in New Zealand, and is well on the way to fulfilling the mission, having already donated over $30,000 to support at-risk Kiwi kids.
Hear how taking a leap of faith has supported Lisa in her journey, and how building a successful and nationally recognised accounting practise has been able to happen in such a short space of time.
As an organising committee we felt it was important to restart these networking breakfasts. We always received such positive feedback and have had numerous people asking when the next event would be. If you enjoyed them as much as others, we encourage you to pass on the invitation and let others share the same faith filled experience that you and hundreds of others have.
All the best and look forward to seeing you on the 6th of August.
Dietmar, Kris, Scott, Aaron and Steven
