{"id":122,"date":"2016-06-03T23:13:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T23:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teraranga.chchcatholic.nz\/?p=122"},"modified":"2020-02-04T01:05:46","modified_gmt":"2020-02-04T01:05:46","slug":"kingdom-resources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/raranga.org.nz\/index.php\/2016\/06\/03\/kingdom-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Kingdom Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Kingdom Resources: Making a Difference for 25 Years!&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thousands of people in Christchurch and North Canterbury have been helped by Kingdom Resources with interest free loans, free budgeting and employment advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/raranga.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/kr-264x300.png\" alt=\"kr\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based in Addington, it has a team of over 100 trained Christian volunteer budget advisors from churches throughout the region, as well as an experienced employment team.&nbsp; Last year alone it helped nearly 3,000 people (adults and their children).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This month, Kingdom Resources celebrates its 25<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;anniversary of helping people in need.&nbsp; &nbsp;It came about when Howard Taylor, then a pastor at South West Baptist Church (formerly Spreydon Baptist), suggested the idea of giving interest free loans to people caught in the debt trap.&nbsp; Budgeting services, employment services, including free community courses (usually run in local churches), were added to the mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beth is one of Kingdom Resources\u2019 many clients. &nbsp;Struggling to pay her monthly electricity bill, with two young children to feed, she felt crippled with debt and became ill with worry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI was in over my head with hire purchases \u2013 the interest was killing me,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;explained Beth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Help came in the form of a Kingdom Resources Budget Education course, followed by one to one budget advice and access to an interest free loan.&nbsp; Today, life is very different for her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI feel my life is far more stable.&nbsp; Before the loan, I didn\u2019t know how I was going to get through the week.&nbsp; Now I\u2019m not only paying my loan back, but I\u2019m managing to save some money each week too.&nbsp; Life is way easier,\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong>she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kingdom Resources budgeting and employment teams are committed to helping people get their lives back on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cWe really want to make a difference in people\u2019s lives and show them that we care enough to help set them free from debt or get them back into work, sometimes both!,\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;said John Exton, General Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Providing budget advice is a great way to connect with and help in your community.&nbsp;&nbsp; Please call Kingdom Resources on 332 1700 or email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:kr@kingdomresources.org.nz\">kr@kingdomresources.org.nz<\/a>&nbsp; for information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kingdom Resources: Making a Difference for 25 Years!&nbsp;&nbsp; Thousands of people in Christchurch and North Canterbury have been helped by Kingdom Resources with interest free loans, free budgeting and employment advice.
