There are about 300 churches alive and active in the Greater Christchurch area. If every church had over 500 people attending, still less than half of the city would be in our churches. Whilst there are people to be reached, there is room for more churches.
A team of leaders who have been recognised by pastors and leaders as having a role in church planting in the city have been meeting to see what could be put in place to welcome and serve church planters and church planting movements.
One resource that has been made available is the Fresh Expressions Mission-Shaped Ministry (msm) Course.
msm trains Christians in church planting, disciple-making and evangelism. Please go to the UK website for more information: http://www.freshexpressions.org.uk/
Who is msm for?
- those with a vision for mission in 21st century Canterbury and who want their churches to be more effecti
ve in mission - promising young leaders who want to know more about church planting and discipleship
- experienced leaders who want to reflect on their ministries and leadership
- urban, suburban and rural contexts.
A course of 10 sessions starting in February 2013 in Christchurch is being hosted by Theology House.
